Dysmenorrheal

Shortly after the beginning of puberty in girls, and usually after the development of breasts, menstruation starts. While menstruation usually begins between ages 12 and 13, it may happen at a younger or older age. The first menstrual period is called “menarche.”

The menstrual cycle is about four weeks long, starting on the first day of bleeding and ending when the next period begins.

The menstrual discharge comes from the uterus through the vagina. The uterus is a hollow, pear-shaped organ, responsible for maintaining and nourishing the embryo and fetus during a pregnancy. The vagina, or “birth canal,” provides a path for menstrual fluids to leave the body.

During a period, there are usually 2-3 days of relatively heavy bleeding followed by 2-4 days of lighter flow. The fluid during a menstrual period is a mixture of uterine lining tissue and blood.

The total monthly menstrual loss varies from about 4 to 12 teaspoons.

Dysmenorrhea is the medical term for the painful cramps that may occur immediately before or during the menstrual period. There are two types of dysmenorrhea: primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea.

Primary dysmenorrhea is another name for common menstrual cramps. Cramps usually begin one to two years after a woman starts getting her period. Pain usually is felt in the lower abdomen or back and can be mild to severe. Common menstrual cramps often start shortly before or at the onset of the period and last for one to three days. They usually become less painful as a woman ages and may stop entirely after the woman has a baby.

Secondary dysmenorrhea is pain caused by a disorder in the woman’s reproductive organs. Pain from secondary dysmenorrhea usually begins earlier in the menstrual cycle and lasts longer than common menstrual cramps.

Treatment

There are some causes of dysmenorrhea such as too much extravasated blood, low energy or qui level and coldness in body. For the best treatment result, the causes should be found before starting treatment. All therapies’ goal is cleaning out waste in womb for pain and any abnormalities.
